The CEO of Indra Group, José Vicente de los Mozos, emphasized today at a meeting moderated by journalist Mónica Carrillo at FEINDEF that "the defense industry must reorganize and establish a strong and cohesive structure" and that "we must go to Europe united."
At the meeting, titled "Indra's Vision for the Defense Industry," De los Mozos stated that, given the increased budget and major European defense programs, "we need to grow rapidly because there is a three- to five-year window of opportunity to enter them." He highlighted how in just one year, "we have created a leader in the space sector, with Indra Espacio and the acquisition of Hispasat and Deimos; we have launched Indra Land Vehicles, responding to the need to renew armored vehicles; we have developed the most advanced anti-drone system, Aracne; IndraMind intelligence; and we have become a leader in cyber defense in Europe and NATO. All of this while reacting to the lessons learned from Ukraine."
He stated that "Indra's technological potential is extraordinary" and added that "of the last 19 R&D projects announced by the EU, Indra is involved in 12." De los Mozos emphasized that "we must grow if we want to be relevant in Europe. We have the ambition to reach €10 billion in revenue, and to do so, we must grow organically and inorganically."
High-Level Meeting between Indra and the Finnish Company Patria
José Vicente de los Mozos also welcomed Esa Rautalinko, president of the Finnish defense and technology company Patria, to his stand at FEINDEF. Both companies are strengthening their relationship with the aim of strengthening their collaboration and exploring new business opportunities, thereby offering European countries systems that strengthen their sovereignty and strategic autonomy.
Patria is a company with extensive experience in the development and production of military vehicles, while Indra is a pioneer in systems for digitizing and providing intelligence to next-generation combat vehicles and armored vehicles.
Indra and Patria have previously collaborated on various European research and development projects promoted by the European Commission through the European Defense Fund, such as FAMOUS I and II.
Likewise, during the exhibition, Indra and the Andalusian Regional Government's Department of University, Research, and Innovation joined forces to promote the creation of a strong Andalusian ecosystem of entrepreneurship, innovation, and technology transfer in the field of defense and security, which will contribute to strengthening Andalusia's role as a strategic hub in the sector. José Carlos Gómez Villamandos, Regional Minister of University, Research, and Innovation of the Andalusian Regional Government, and De los Mozos signed the protocol establishing the principles of this collaboration.
In addition to promoting research, innovation, and entrepreneurship initiatives and facilitating technology transfer, the agreement provides for the joint development of activities that enhance public-private collaboration and increase the participation of the Andalusian business community, including its startups and entrepreneurs, in the development of advanced technologies for application in the defense sector.
