- With the recent approval of the Startups Law, one of the most important milestones within the Spain Digital Agenda 2026, our country is at the forefront of Europe in the development of an entrepreneurial ecosystem.
- In recognition of the importance of startups for the economic and social development of our country, FEINDEF 23 will have a space dedicated to innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of the Defense and Security sector, Innova for Def&Sec.
Spain is making steady progress towards its goal of becoming an entrepreneurial nation with the approval, last December, of the Law for the Promotion of the Emerging Companies Ecosystem, also known as the Startups Law. This regulation, promoted by the Government of Spain through the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, is the first specifically aimed at creating an innovative entrepreneurial ecosystem in Europe and one of the most important milestones within the Spain Digital Agenda 2026.
Thus, Spain, with this law aligned with the European standard of entrepreneurial nation, is positioned at the forefront of Europe as a whole in terms of the development of an entrepreneurial ecosystem with innovative vocation and lays the foundations to facilitate the creation and relocation of emerging companies, as well as the attraction of talent and international capital.
Aware of the importance of startups for the economic and social development of our country, the FEINDEF Foundation, which organizes the International Defense and Security Fair of Spain, introduces in the III edition of this reference event of Defense and Security in our country, a space dedicated exclusively to innovation and entrepreneurship in this field.
Innova for Def & Sec was born as the embryo of the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Defense and Security so necessary in our sector and with a clear vocation to support young talent. It is conceived to become a national and international benchmark in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship for "dual-use" solutions and technologies and an annual meeting point for entrepreneurs and innovative companies interested in the Defense and Security market.
It will also be a space for dialogue and meeting where participants will be able to expand their network of contacts with other actors who have common interests in order to promote the development of joint actions in the field of research, innovation and entrepreneurship. An opportunity for startups in the Defense and Security sector to make themselves known to other more established startups and Institutions, offering them the chance to showcase their great capacity for imagination, inventiveness and innovation.
Presentations and round tables will focus on the innovation lines of NATO, the Directorate General for Defense Industry and Space (DEFIS-EU), the Spanish Ministry of Defense and large companies in the sector. Universities, investors, technology centers and all the actors of the ecosystem will be present in the program, which will also include "pitch elevator" sessions where startups will be able to present their projects to companies and investors, and "matchmaking" activities where there will be "one to one" meetings with consolidated companies or investment funds.
FEINDEF 23, which will take place at the IFEMA Exhibition Center in Madrid on May 17, 18 and 19, 2023, will host in its 40,000 square meters of exhibition space around 400 exhibitors from 20 countries, more than 100 international delegations and a wide range of entrepreneurs and innovative companies in the Defense and Security sector of our country.
