The essence and raison d’être of the Spanish Navy has not changed over the many years of its existence: the defense of Spain and the protection of our fellow citizens, as well as their legitimate interests at sea and from the sea, wherever necessary.

The Spanish Navy contributes to guarantee the Defense of Spain and is the main actor of the State action at sea which, in turn, requires a modern, balanced, expeditionary and interoperable Naval Force like the ones of our allies and partners. This is the reason why the Navy takes part in projects and initiatives of the EU and NATO, trying to attain the most suitable synergies to enjoy the necessary efficiency to maintain and develop its capabilities. The participation in these projects not only allows the Spanish Navy to find adequate solutions to its operational requirements, but the different industrial programs also permit to reinforce the strategic sector of our national defense industry.
