The current geostrategic environment, marked by increasing volatility and rising systemic competition, imposes an accelerated pace of transformation in the defense industry, which has become an unavoidable imperative for nations aspiring to preserve their technological sovereignty and strategic autonomy. In this new paradigm, innovation is not only positioned as a national priority, but also as a structural component for long-term security and resilience.
Thus, the convergence between startups, investment funds, and public administrations emerges as an essential axis for building an agile, innovative, and robust industrial fabric capable of facing the challenge of responding effectively to complex and changing environments. Aware of this reality, XRF, one of the few Spanish companies pioneering the use of extended reality and artificial intelligence (AI) for decision-making in complex scenarios, has decided to take a step forward by organizing the first edition of the "Dual Frontier: Defense x Startups" (Frontera Dual: Defensa x Startups) event.
This initiative, supported by ISDEFE and FEINDEF, will be held on May 14th, in Innova Space, at Hall 6, within the framework of the International Defense and Security Fair (FEINDEF), representing an opportunity to break down the barriers to dialogue that have historically separated the entrepreneurial ecosystem from the institutional sphere, as well as generate synergies between actors who rarely share common ground.
Representatives from the military and defense industry will participate in the event, which will allow for a more precise understanding of the operational challenges and real needs on the ground. Likewise, a networking space will be promoted among all stakeholders in the sector, fostering open and practical dialogue that facilitates the identification of viable projects and the development of public-private partnerships in the short and medium term.
In this sense, Frontera Dual is seen as a call to action for all those involved who understand that 21st-century defense and security require a shared vision, agility, and responsiveness.
Who is XRF?
XRF is a Spanish technology startup that, through technology (extended reality and artificial intelligence), has become a key support in decision-making in complex scenarios. The company operates in Spain, with offices in Madrid and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and in the United States, with offices in Miami. Its clients include the Spanish Army, the Navy, NEOM, and Telefónica. XRF is also part of NATO's working group to improve military planning with virtual reality and was selected by NATO in 2024 as a Top Ten Innovator among more than 500 projects within the framework of the Coalition Warrior Interoperability Exercise (CWIX).
