GDELS Santa Bárbara Systems revolutionizes self-propelled artillery with European technology made in Spain

General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) arrives at the FEINDEF 25 International Defense and Security Fair, ready to revolutionize self-propelled artillery with European technology made in Spain. The European company GDELS, headquartered in Madrid, and its local subsidiary, Santa Bárbara Systems, are taking advantage of Spain's leading defense fair to contribute an impressive display of new and proven capabilities, reflecting their strong commitment to the Spanish Armed Forces and the defense industrial strategy defined by the Spanish Government.

GDELS Military Mobility solutions are based on European technology with flexible localization schemes for production and integration, as currently demonstrated in the Spanish VCR 8x8 Dragón program, among many others.

World Premiere at FEINDEF 25: New Generation of Self-Propelled Artillery, Nemesis

The exhibition will showcase new and proven capabilities, with up to nine ground platforms on display. GDELS-Santa Bárbara Sistemas presents for the first time a new generation of self-propelled artillery systems at FEINDEF 25 in Madrid, starting with the launch of the latest innovation in the field of armoured tracked artillery systems.

The "Nemesis" is a variant of the ASCOD platform and is the first tracked self-propelled howitzer (ATP) system that can be fully remotely operated. It is one of the technological developments that could replace the American M-109s, of which the Spanish Army has approximately 90 units. The Industrial and Technological Plan for Security and Defense, recently presented by the Spanish Government, includes the replacement of this technology developed in the 1960s.

Also presented for the first time at a public event is the Piranha Advanced Artillery Vehicle (AAC), which combines the Piranha HMC 10x10 platform with the KNDS fully automated 155 mm/L52 AGM artillery gun module: the perfect combination of firepower and mobility. The Piraña 10x10 platform with four steered axes guarantees maximum mobility on and off road, including a turning radius of just 18 meters. 360° azimuth, fire and move, fire on the move, true MRSI, direct aiming, and engaging moving targets underscore the artillery system's extraordinary capabilities.

Purely European 6x6 Vehicles

The company also showcases its Eagle and Pandur vehicles at FEINDEF, part of its "purely European" 6x6 range. These vehicles are manufactured in Spain and adapted to the requirements of replacing the Army's current BMRs.

The Eagle 6x6 is the largest version of this proven family of tactical vehicles. It is in service or under contract with Switzerland, Germany, and Luxembourg, in tactical reconnaissance and medical evacuation versions.  Equally adaptable, mobile, and protected as its 4x4 counterpart, it features a generous interior volume and up to six tons of mission payload, making it a versatile platform for a wide range of scenarios.

The PANDUR 6x6 EVO is a compact and powerful wheeled armoured vehicle with high road speed and outstanding off-road mobility. It forms the backbone of the Austrian Armed Forces' medium mechanized forces and, along with its larger 8x8 version, is in service with numerous other users worldwide, in a wide variety of roles, from reconnaissance and APC to anti-tank and anti-aircraft defense. The Pandur EVO features STANAG-certified integrated ballistic and mine protection, an internal drivetrain, and optional amphibious capability.

Beyond the platforms, GDELS will focus its activities on enhancing the supply chain with the celebration of Industry Day, sharing a toast with a large audience from the company's 900 national suppliers. The young talent will receive special attention, with an event dedicated to human resources and employability in the defense industry, as well as the opportunity to collect curriculum vitaefrom people interested in growing professionally at GDELS-Santa Bárbara.

Following the world premiere of its new tracked artillery system on May 12, they will celebrate Industry Day on May 13 at 12:00 p.m., where they will be visited by representatives of Santa Bárbara Sistemas' more than 900 suppliers in Spain. The collaboration agreement between GEDLS and KNDS will be renewed after 25 years of close collaboration. The Young Talent event will take place on May 14 at 12:30 p.m.

Logo and Website relaunch

GDELS presents its new, modernized company logo and launch its new website at FEINDEF. The five-letter logo continues to represent the best technology developed and manufactured in Europe for the world, and reconfirms GDELS' core qualities: excellence, reliability, and agility made in Europe.
