Eurofighter: A new era for the Spanish Armed Forces

The perception of the defence and security sector has been a subject of debate throughout history. However, the current scenario, resulting from the outbreak of war in Ukraine, is shifting the general perception and today there is a greater awareness of the need to invest in defence in order to guarantee the sovereignty of nations.

The change in the current situation has also accelerated investment in defence, both in internal projects and at European level, as is the case of the Eurofighter. In this sense, the so-called 'Falcon Project' is a program to reinforce the capabilities of the Spanish Air Force by providing them with 20 new fighters that will modernize our Armed Forces, and increase the Spanish Eurofighter fleet to 90 aircraft.

The assembly of all the aircraft will involve a joint collaboration between Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy, with the first delivery scheduled for 2026 to be completed by 2030.

This purchase is a clear commitment to the importance of the sector, and of Spain, not only at European level but also to promote the development of the Spanish aeronautical industry, since it is expected that with the implementation of this program more than 20,000 direct and indirect jobs will be created.

In addition, the main national defence and technology companies will be involved in the process, among them Indra, global sponsor of FEINDEF 23.
